The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church began to establish a significant presence in Georgia during the final months of the Civil War (1861-65). Missionaries from the denomination often accompanied Union troops into territories occupied by the collapsing Confederacy, where they welcomed many newly emancipated men and women into their growing membership.

OUR HISTORY

Greater Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, located at 2990 Broad Street in Austell, Georgia, stands as a beacon of faith and service in the community. With a rich history dating back to the 1800s, the church began as a humble gathering of believers worshiping in a tent by Sweetwater Creek. In the early 1900s, the congregation established its current home on donated land near the railroad tracks, where it has flourished as a pillar of spiritual guidance and communal support.

Greater Saint Paul AME Church continues to thrive as a welcoming, vibrant community dedicated to worship, fellowship, and outreach. Weekly services, held every Sunday at 10:30 AM, offer an inspiring and uplifting environment for all who seek spiritual growth and connection.

The church also embraces technology, making past services and events accessible through its active YouTube channel. This effort ensures that its message of hope and love reaches beyond the physical walls of the sanctuary, touching lives both near and far.
